Make Every Day a Mandela Day
On July 18, 2009, the UN General Assembly launched Nelson Mandela International Day in recognition of Nelson Mandela's birthday. It was inspired by a call Nelson Mandela made a year earlier, for the next generation to take on the burden of leadership in addressing the world’s social injustices when he said that “it is in your hands now."
Its objective is to inspire individuals to take action to help change the world for the better and in so doing, to build a global movement for good.
Each individual has the ability and the responsibility to change the world for the better.
How will you make a positive difference in your community? In the world?
How can you make everyday a Mandela day?
Become a changemaker by doing something that affects positive change every day. Start with what you are passionate about and find inspiration in your community to actively contribute to making the world a better place.
